Littles Road Cottage

Our clients purchased their Dalefield ‘turn of the century’ weatherboard cottage and rambling garden with the idea of creating a haven that they can retreat to from their busy lives in Singapore. The home is nestled into the hillside offering sweeping views over the Shotover River below and the exceptional Remarkables mountain range beyond.

Interior designers, Milne Reddell needed to reimagine the home’s interior, ensuring the selection of materials used offered a sense of comfort and luxury. Rosa and Marcie were engaged to deliver a consistency of design details throughout the renovation of the two main bathrooms, the guest bathroom along with an overall refresh of the interior palette.

Bathing rituals very often set the rhythm for daily life and after observing this detail, Milne Reddell concluded that the bathing spaces of the home were required to feel measured and calm, while being connected to the exterior surroundings of Queenstown. The use of dark Japanese tiles echo local schist, custom made concrete basins, black stained custom designed oak joinery and tactile honed marble bench tops were thoughtfully considered elements that offer a humble luxury for our clients to enjoy.
